Cambridge Bursary Scheme and Girton College Residence Bursary

For Undergraduates

The Cambridge Bursary Scheme

The Cambridge Bursary Scheme offers non-repayable Bursaries of up to £3,500 per year (up to £5,600 for some mature students and care leavers), dependent on household income. There is no limit to the number of bursaries available and you’re automatically considered for a Cambridge Bursary if you’re financially assessed by your student finance authority.

Payment of the Cambridge Bursary to students takes place 3-4 weeks after the start of each term in 3 equal payments: 29 October, 11 February, 20 May.

Further explanation is provided via the link below.

Education premium

This is an additional bursary for students who were in receipt of  free school meals. This information is usually automatically provided to the University by the schools.  However, if you believe you are eligible and have not received this, you may need to provide evidence to the Financial Welfare Officer.

Girton College Residence bursary

Introduced in 2022, this new additional bursary will be automatically applied to reduce College Residence Fees by £20.00 a week for all students in receipt of Cambridge Bursary. This deduction will be made to eligible students' accounts and will appear in College bills, as a discount for the first two terms in the Lent Term bill and for the third term in the Easter Term bill.
