Cambridge is a busy city. Attempting to drive through the centre of the city can be very time consuming. Traffic is often heavy, parts of the centre are pedestrianised, and the one-way system takes some getting used to.
Arriving by Bus:
From 2 October 2023 the Universal (U) bus will run a split service, serving Girton College (Girton Corner). University of Cambridge card holders (students and staff) can travel on the U bus for £1 per single trip, otherwise the standard fare is £2. Access the Universal timetable and view the new route map.
There are also regular buses from Cambridge city centre to the main College site. Stagecoach Citi 5 and Citi 6 run from Emmanuel Street to Girton Corner.
Bus tickets can be bought from the bus driver; contactless payments are preferred (using a contactless-enabled card or a mobile phone with Apple Pay or Google Pay installed and ready to use) but it is also possible to pay with cash. Pushchairs and fold up bikes only can be taken on the bus.
Information on bus services in Cambridge can be found on the website of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.
