Casual Lodge Porter
The College holds a list of those registered to undertake casual work in the Lodge of Girton College. Casual workers, by their nature, do not work regularly but are called upon in times of staff shortages (e.g. sick leave/ annual leave).
The Porters’ Lodge plays a key role in all aspects of College life. It is the central information and reception point for members and visitors and coordinates site security and safety matters, including emergency response. Casual Lodge Porters should have excellent communication skills and be able to undertake and apply training in first aid, fire safety and other emergency procedures. Other essential requirements for the role include the ability to be calm under pressure, have a flexible approach to a varied and demanding workload and be able to work alone and as part of a team. A satisfactory Standard DBS Check is necessary for this role (to be acquired on appointment).
