On Tuesday 28 March 2023 we were delighted to host Year 12 students from 7 schools, in and around our link area of Solihull, to raise aspirations by giving them a taste of undergraduate life at Cambridge University.
Admissions Tutor and Official Fellow, Dr Seb Falk, ran a taster lecture on the humanities and Postgraduate student, George Cowperthwaite (2016 PhD in Applied Maths & Theoretical Physics) gave students interested in STEM subjects an introduction to statistics.
“It was a joy to meet such an enthusiastic, inquisitive and thoughtful group of students” – Seb Falk
“The students were curious, engaged and keen to find out all about life in Cambridge. I hope they enjoyed their day and learned something new!" – George Cowperthwaite
Our wonderful Student Ambassadors gave tours around College and the city centre of Cambridge, as well as giving advice and insight to the prospective applicants over lunch in the Great Hall.
“A highlight of the day was seeing the Year 12 students chatting to current undergraduates; the Girton Student Ambassadors demystified what being at Cambridge is really like and made for a truly engaging and inspiring visit.” – Tessa Doubleday, Schools Liaison and Outreach Officer
