UK-based multidisciplinary artist Akeelah Bertram has been selected as the fourth Cavendish Arts Science Fellow at Girton College.
The Fellowship is delivered as a partnership between Cavendish Arts Science, an initiative of the Cavendish Laboratory, Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge and Girton College, thanks to the vision and support of Girton alumna Una Ryan.
The Fellowship is designed to support artists to develop thought-provoking ideas through engagement with physicists and those in other fields, and experiment with new approaches to their practice that are transformative and push boundaries.
Akeelah was selected from an international open call for her compelling experimental and collaborative work. Akeelah’s practice is defined by a hands-on, experimental approach, often involving collaboration with professionals from diverse fields and actively engaging audiences throughout the research and development process. She is interested in cross-cultural collaboration, expanding access to arts and culture, and amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups.
Akeelah’s work explores collective narratives, frequently integrating new technologies and experimenting with communication modes to create experiences that foster connections across different locations and contexts.
Visit the Cavendish Arts Science website for more information about the programme and the Fellowship.
